Topic: subType in Specimen DAM
John David Larkin Nolen (Apr 21 2020 at 16:07):
Followup question about the subType. CG folks last week thought it was a good idea because it could handle scenarios like specimen type "DNA", subType "somatic" and was a better route than expanding the specimen type to handle a term like "DNA, somatic". Are there other use cases/examples of type/subType where that would make sense? Trying to balance the weight of keeping subtype vs expanding the type code set.

for the cancer tumor-normal testing usecase this could be:
main types: blood, tissue, liquidBiopsy
subtypes: tumor, normal, (paternal, maternal)
