Topic: backporting "new resources"

If we manage to get new genomics resources into the FHIR spec, these resources only available in R5, R5B some time in the future.
To also use the information modelling efforts in R4, i think we need to think about backports of these new Resources.

Is this even possible?

view this post on Zulip Patrick Werner (Mar 15 2022 at 14:13):

Not the resource itself, but we can think about profiling Observations and other Resources to enable the same/similar functionality in R4

Once we dig into the ideal future state for GenomicStudy we should better be able to approximate it with either Procedure or another option

If we do that, it would be so different between R4 and R5 I am not sure it would even be worth it?

But yea, either way, our focus now needs to be getting GenomicsStudy right, which @Aly Khalifa and @Bob Freimuth are working on now.

In case someone would like to check the work on progress, the GitHub repo can be found here: https://github.com/rrfreimuth/HL7-CG-Models
This is also mentioned within the Thursday and Tuesday's meeting minutes.

If we are going to point to Github, those of us who are not familiar with it, need a bit of instruction as to how to view the information... I would actually like to learn this myself - not sure about others. Either way - I am not able to look at this information as it stands

@Arthur Hermann - We can make this better, but for now:

  • Click here and download the zip file.
  • Unzip the file on your device
  • In the folder, there is a file called 'artifacts.html' - open it in your browser.

You will see something similar to a very small IG, but hopefully you are able to navigate around the artifacts.

Looking at the original proposal for backporting could help - not everything needs to be back-ported. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N9JsMW3OXVO1VVipIYs-Cz6J0zpWEx51yvigMGlINOo/edit

PS should the title of this channel reflect that it is about 'study level' ? or are there other resource proposals?
