Hi, we are starting to model the test order for genomics in the UK and are looking at how we can represent consanguinity. There doesn't appear to be a mechanism for recording this when recording the family pedigree using FamilyMemberHistory, so we are proposing to record this as an Observation on the Patient. Are there any thoughts on this?

There are extensions on FamilyMemberHistory that allow you to identify the specific parents for each relative and by tracing the tree you could determine consanguinity. However, if you just want to make a true/false assertion between two particular individuals, Observation is appropriate.
