Topic: ballot invalidation
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 07:52):
In doing some research on how my ballot had mistakes in it.. I did find an issue. I am not done looking at my whole ballot.. Here is the issue GF16585 was entered by me based on some workgroup discussions. However I did not include this in my infrastructure ballot. But it appears someone else did include it in a negative ballot... THUS I fear my valid gForge item is going to get thrown away because someone else did bad ballot submission.
Grahame Grieve (May 14 2018 at 07:56):
that was a typo by that other person and I thought we were going to correct that typo
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 08:00):
okay... I do find a few other items that I very clearly messed up and put them into the infrastructure, when I should have put them into stu... sorry, but the interface for ballot when one records the comment in gForge is not optimal.
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 08:03):
so I would conclude that my type of mistake will be better with better tool
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 08:07):
can I withdraw my ballot negative on those mistakes I made? Would that keep them alive for the intended reason?
Grahame Grieve (May 14 2018 at 08:11):
@Lloyd McKenzie ?
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 08:12):
aka... can I ask to have my ballot negatives on those mistakes be "Forgotten"... :-)
Grahame Grieve (May 14 2018 at 08:12):
but process wise the easiest thing to do is for you to clone them
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 08:15):
but I have EU given rights given that I am this week in the EU...
Grahame Grieve (May 14 2018 at 08:15):
hah
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 08:17):
how does one clone a gForge item?
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 08:18):
GF#14192 is an example... It has a long history of workgroup discussion that should not be lost due to this most recent ballot mistake
Grahame Grieve (May 14 2018 at 09:09):
reenter manually, as far as I know
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 09:38):
If you retract the negative, then it gets dispositioned as Resolved, no change. Retraction of a negative can only happen once there's a resolution.
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 09:38):
There is actually a "clone" option in gForge. Edit the item and select "Clone item"
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 09:39):
(And obviously remove the ballot strength and ballot from the cloned item)
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 09:39):
Not sure what happens to comments when you do that.
John Moehrke (May 14 2018 at 09:52):
I don't see any way to clone.
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 10:15):
Maybe it's an admin function. Tell me what you need cloned and I can do it.
Brian Postlethwaite (May 14 2018 at 16:15):
Can we re-categorize a ballot issue from correction to typo?
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 16:16):
Yes
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 16:16):
And you can auto-approve it once re-categorized.
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 16:16):
Occasionally we recategegorize the reverse way
Lloyd McKenzie (May 14 2018 at 16:17):
What you can't do is turn a negative into a typo and find it anything other than persuasive
