Topic: US Core Errata for Cures

I was under the impression that the US Core errata 3.1.1 was in response to be more "in line" with the requirements of 21st Century Cures. If thats true, is there an expectation that vendors use 3.1.1 instead of 3.1.0 to meet certification? And if so, is that documented anywhere?

From what I can tell, since 3.1.1 is errata, in the places where 3.1.0 differs from 3.1.1, using 3.1.0 would be incorrect, and non-compliant with US Core.

That's my assumption as well. However, I haven't been able to find that specifically written anywhere, and in Cures it specifically calls out "US Core 3.1.0" which is the only reason I have hesitated.

written clarification due out in the nexst few hours

Thanks Grahame, will the clarification be posted by ONC? I also noticed that there is a "Mandatory Write Capability" for Document Reference. I thought US Core / 21st CC was Read/Search only. Perhaps I'm mis-reading the spec?

I just posted it. @Brett Marquard ?

Write for Doc Ref has always been there - lookat the capablity statement and Clinical notes pages in the prior versions. Due to an editorial error it was omitted from the Quickstart section in 3.1.0.

@Eric Haas and I are not authoritative on ONC requirements... US Core does include requirement to support write on DocumentReference.

@James Bradley - I'm not authoritative on ONC requirements either, but my understanding is that write interaction on DocRef isn't currently a requirement, and therefore it isn't tested. The fact that the standardized API is read-only is mentioned in the rule itself as a response to comments: https://www.federalregister.gov/d/2020-07419/p-1210. It is also mentioned in this fact sheet ("limited to API-enabled 'read' services"): https://www.healthit.gov/cures/sites/default/files/cures/2020-03/APICertificationCriterion.pdf
