I'm trying to determine the appropriate identifier system to use for a CMS Certification Number (CCN). Per the FHIR Identifier Registry (https://www.hl7.org/fhir/identifier-registry.html), there doesn't appear to be an official URL. There appears to be an OID (from what I can tell by searching the HL7 OID Registry), but a URL would be greatly preferred. Is there a way to get an official CCN URL added to the FHIR Identifier Registry? It seems like it would fit the existing US URL pattern fairly easily (e.g., http://hl7.org/fhir/sid/us-ccn). Thanks!

Submit a change request using the "propose a change" link at the bottom of any page in the spec. It may take a few months, but we can get one defined.

we are using the appropriate OID which is available right now in the DEQM IG

Makes sense - however, the readability of URLs make them greatly preferred to OIDs, in our use case.

@Lloyd McKenzie - I saw that this issue (FHIR-27898) was finally resolved. Can the identifier system be added to the list of known identifier systems (https://www.hl7.org/fhir/identifier-registry.html)? It's helpful to have those all in one place for searchability.

No. We can't revise R4 that way. What should happen is that it will show up here: https://terminology.hl7.org/external_terminologies.html
In R5, the identifier-registry page will go away and just reference the terminology.hl7.org page.

@Lloyd McKenzie I'm only seeing code systems on that page. I found this page (https://terminology.hl7.org/identifiers.html), but it's sparsely populated.

Sorry, meant https://terminology.hl7.org/identifiers.html. And yes, there's a bunch of work to do to get it to reflect everything that's on the FHIR page.

Got it - thanks!
