@Grahame Grieve - to align with the new Affiliate Agreement, do we need to encourage the UK to use the term 'UK Base', rather than 'UK Core'?
Grahame Grieve (Apr 08 2020 at 23:12):
does the affiliate agreement say something about that? what's the exact wording?
Peter Jordan (Apr 08 2020 at 23:14):
6.10.2 HL7 International grants the Affiliate the exclusive right to determine and/or publish the HL7 FHIR Implementation Guides in its Territory that are considered to be the base FHIR implementation rules for the Affiliate's territory. These are usually called (in English): "HL7 FHIR (country) Base Implementation Guide”. That's the wording that you supplied.
Grahame Grieve (Apr 08 2020 at 23:17):
thanks. I remembered giving you wording after I wrote that response.
Grahame Grieve (Apr 08 2020 at 23:17):
yes, you could encourage them too - because it says usually
Grahame Grieve (Apr 08 2020 at 23:18):
it certainly doesn't require them to, and I doubt USA is going to change
Richard Kavanagh (Apr 09 2020 at 11:25):
It was been discussed at HL7 UK, but I think the feeling from the NHS team was that the project is too far down the line to entertain changing the name at this point.
Rik Smithies (Apr 09 2020 at 15:45):
I suppose the question is is this (UK Core) the UK Base Implementation Guide, or is that something else e.g. a simplest IG with an API for patient data access. UK Core aims to be something different I think - both more and in some ways less. The scope and use cases of UK Core needs to be explicit so that we can know what to call things :-)
Kevin Mayfield (Apr 10 2020 at 06:00):
Not this again :) I'm involved with a English regional project which is looking at UK Core. Early discussions imply we will want to create a regional base (which is likely to be similar to a English base).
I don't believe UK core is an implementable standard, it use is to form a UK core standard.
