I've noticed a few FHIR profiles/valuesets using LOINC. My understand is similar to this article http://www.woodcote-consulting.com/tag/loinc/ and LOINC is rarely used. We would use SNOMED instead?

Answered .. SNOMED
Grahame Grieve (Oct 06 2017 at 11:49):
it's a bit bizarre yo say that you wouldn't use LOINC because it doesn't appear in drug dictionaries....
Grahame Grieve (Oct 06 2017 at 11:50):
note that the rest of the world prefers LOINC....
Kevin Mayfield (Oct 06 2017 at 11:50):
Not that bit :)

Do we have any cross maps? I'm looking at Argonaut vital signs and looking at converting them for UK
Grahame Grieve (Oct 06 2017 at 11:51):
I don't know of any cross maps other than that LOINC and IHTSDO are working on a general cross map
Grahame Grieve (Oct 06 2017 at 11:52):
also note that there's some confusion about the vital signs - we are not mandating to use LOINC for observations; we are just fixing some particular codes for that particular use; we expect that the vital signs observations will have other more specific codes as well (whether in LOINC, MDC or SNOMED or whatever)

and ICD9/10?
Michael Lawley (Feb 17 2018 at 09:22):
ICD9/10 is for secondary use, not clinical use (but I know that hasn't stopped anyone)
