Stream: v2 to FHIR
Topic: Connectathon 25
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 08 2020 at 15:49):
This topic can be used for anything about or during Connectathon 25. See you soon!
Nathan Bunker (Sep 08 2020 at 15:54):
I am planning to verify the VXU to FHIR transformations, with a primary goal of creating a large number of JSON and XML artifacts that are community might use for creating demonstration systems for supporting FHIR. This fall/autumn we have a student project that is going to demonstrate how the Immunization community might move from HL7 v2 to FHIR. This project is going to convert a "reference implementation" that supports HL7 v2 into FHIR. I am going to use resources from this v2-to-fhir project to give examples the students can use. I'll use the time here at the Connectathon to prepare these messages and give feedback. I'm looking forward to working with all of you!
Camila Altman (Sep 09 2020 at 21:06):
@Hans Buitendijk is there a meeting right now? I am lost on where to go?
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 09 2020 at 21:07):
Yep, but just regular zoom as we did not get it on Whova. Join Zoom Meeting - https://zoom.us/j/5100467805 | Meeting ID: 510 046 7805 | +1 929-436-2866-US (New York) | Find your local number: https://zoom.us/u/acrJHLNHol
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 09 2020 at 21:43):
If anybody would like to show their mappings/progress in more detail sometime Thursday or Friday on a particular time, or during one of our dedicated meetings, let me know so we can schedule/balance.
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 13:10):
Some challenges with Zoom to get it up. Will be on shortly.
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 13:41):
All sorted out. Zoom is up and running. We're starting with overview at 10am ET.
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 15:00):
We will have the following meetings so far scheduled:
Thursday - 12:30-1:30pm ET to discuss CWE Mapping challenges
Thursday - 5-6pm ET standup to review progress, issues, next steps
Friday - 10-11am ET Review of mapping tool status using the maps and their learnings/challenges with the latest maps (Google and Microsoft)

Mohannad Hussain (Sep 10 2020 at 17:40):
Hello all, I am new to the community and the connectathon. I've been building a FHIR API/facade for our product, which traditionally consumes HL7 v2. I would like to vet my API to ensure that it is useful to a potential app developer and implements FHIR "correctly" - any recommendations on where to look and/or who to talk to?
For the record, I built my API using James Agnew's excellent HAPI library. It is currently supporting a simple set of R4 resources (Patient, ImagingStudy, DiagnosticReport, ServiceRequest..etc) for read-only consumption, plus simple search operations.
Thanks in advance!
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 19:09):
Two documents reviewed during the CWE Mapping discussion. These will be further discussed during the conference calls.

Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 19:45):
@Mohannad Hussain : Are you taking v2 messages as input to convert to FHIR? Or are you just focusing on the FHIR APIs being accessed by FHIR based Apps/b2b, i.e., straight FHIR use cases?
Mohannad Hussain (Sep 10 2020 at 19:46):
@Hans Buitendijk For the purpose of this Connectathon, I'd like to focus on the latter (APIs for FHIR based apps/b2b - FHIR use cases). Doing v2 to FHIR mapping is interesting but perhaps I could tackle that in Connectathon 26 :)
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 19:49):
@Ranvijay Kumar : Try again. Fixed the Share settings.
Ranvijay Kumar (Sep 10 2020 at 19:50):
Working now. Thanks
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 20:11):
Just had a power outage. Back on, so Whova/Zoom should be back as well (if it dropped).
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 10 2020 at 20:41):
Tried to use Confluence table and that actually works quite nice to easily add comments, etc. Will check it later to see which one to use going forward. https://confluence.hl7.org/display/OO/CWE+Mapping+Guidance
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 11 2020 at 14:08):
We are in the BReakout room.
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 11 2020 at 14:09):
@Sajjad Hussain : Can you hear us in the room?
Hans Buitendijk (Sep 11 2020 at 14:10):
@Ranvijay Kumar : Don't see you in the breakout yet.
Sajjad Hussain (Sep 11 2020 at 15:52):
@Hans Buitendijk : Is it ok, if we share presentation slides, presented during "V2 to FHIR Connectathon Track - Tooling Reviews Breakout" session here?
Sajjad Hussain (Sep 11 2020 at 15:56):
Google: Cloud Healthcare Data Harmonization - HL7v2 to FHIR Mapping
Larry Shields (Sep 11 2020 at 17:29):
During the Microsoft FHIR Converter Demo, there was a VSCode Extension shown. Is that currently available for the public?
@Ranvijay Kumar
Ranvijay Kumar (Sep 11 2020 at 17:34):
It is currently not available to public. However, if you are a part of Microsoft Early Access Program, we can give you access to it. We expect it to be available to public in the next couple of months
Camila Altman (Sep 11 2020 at 17:37):
@Larry Shields they have a gui version on their github that is open source
Larry Shields (Sep 11 2020 at 17:45):
thanks, looking forward to the extension.
