Current proposal (for R3) is something like this...

Obviously, this is just a crude example, and any calls on live data would be over https and there is still debate over whether Patient NHIs should be exposed in GET requests. It's a surrogate identifier, but potentially opens a few doors!

Could use the POST equivalent of this query which uses the application/x-www-form-urlencoded content as noted at the bottom of http://build.fhir.org/http.html#summary

Oh, and do appreciate that this is just the proposed format of the query - it would still need the MOH to implement it!

...or a vendor. As well as a possible call to a FHIR-based version of the NHI Web Services, that could equally be a call to any system holding details for a particular patient.

really, all that's required is to confirm the system. @Nate Walker - what' the urgency on this? @Peter Jordan what say we have a concrete proposal for the HISO meeting & see if we can get them to confirm at the next meeting? - we could do both NHI & HPI...

@David Hay sounds like a plan. We might ask the HL7NZ Board to vote on this approach at our April or May Board meetings - assuming that we don't receive any significant push-back from the Sector. Are there any objectors out there...?

No, the proposed Provider, Facility and Organisation naming system identifiers are hpi-cpn.health.nz, hpi-fac.health.nz and hpi-org.health.nz, respectively.
