I am thoroughly enjoying #NZHellHole trend on twitter
Grahame Grieve (Aug 23 2020 at 23:07):
if only we can trick Trump into insulting Australia, my life will be complete
Dave deBronkart (Aug 24 2020 at 15:48):
You know he did that years ago, right?
Grahame Grieve (Aug 24 2020 at 19:15):
yeah. of course, he mentioned us. But he mainly insulted our leader, which just didn't have quite the same impact
Peter Jordan (Aug 24 2020 at 20:50):
I thought that the only way to insult an Australian was to turn up to a BBQ with a 'slab' of Fosters Lager and proceed to drink all the other beer on offer.
Grahame Grieve (Aug 24 2020 at 21:00):
it's not the only way, but it's a pretty effective way

Just saw this thread :D
This one is my Aussie classic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drop_bear
Grahame Grieve (Nov 19 2020 at 06:44):
talking about hell holes... @Peter Jordan advised me to look on google for a maori name for the west island. I cam up blank... guess google isn't always my friend...
https://dictionaryofsydney.org/entry/maori nominates Ulimaroa
which they point out isn't valid Maori.
Anyway, thanks for the presentation
Grahame Grieve (Nov 19 2020 at 06:45):
but who is @lloyd mantle and why does he sound like a kiwi?
Grahame Grieve (Nov 19 2020 at 06:51):
I expected that setting up a way to produce IGs they way we did would increase the pressure on IG authors to skill up - and I know that it's at least an order of magnitude increase in the kinds of skills you need. But I expected that many organizations would still produce classic word documents - not as useluf to implementers, but not a step backwards.
Listening to you, I was wondering whether we should modulate our messaging somewhat on this? Going from a word document to nothing at all because you can't produce a structured IG isn't a step forwards
Peter Jordan (Nov 19 2020 at 07:12):
Speaking to Lloyd Mantle beforehand, I detected a South African accent. Ahitereiria is the Maori name for Australia - 'West Island' is a synonym used in NZ. The problem with scaling back our messaging on structured IGs is that it might be used by many as an excuse for not up-skilling. My view remains that it will be a problem solved by tooling. Surely we need structured , and compliant, IGs to advance the broad goals of FHIR? I'm really over maintaining the Word Doc IGs for GP2GP and NZePS - how about you with the 32,000 pages of PDFs for MyHR?
Jim Steel (Nov 19 2020 at 07:29):
I still don't understand why the West Island isn't Tasmania. Or maybe Maria Island. You'd find those much less troublesome
Grahame Grieve (Nov 19 2020 at 07:47):
Tasmania? less troublesome?

They're good, that's for sure. But need? That's what I'm wondering about
Grahame Grieve (Nov 19 2020 at 07:48):
Agree about the page count/complexity. my take is that a properly structured IG in GIT with tools is actually less complicated overall, but all the complexity manifests at the start, rather than accumulating over time as it does if you start with a word document
Brian Postlethwaite (Nov 19 2020 at 11:07):
Agree with that Grahame. Editing the markdown isn't too much effort, terminology is about as hard as the underlying item itself, the initial setup takes a little, but is getting better.

I'm in! Especially the recommended ways of fending off the buggers - well done, Australia!
David Hay (Nov 19 2020 at 17:46):
Yeah - I think that FSH / sushi has made a big difference in the mechanics of producing an IG. The content, of course, is always the tricky part...
