Stream: conformance
Topic: identifier
Jens Villadsen (May 06 2020 at 08:52):
https://www.hl7.org/fhir/datatypes.html#Identifier mentions that Identifer is:
A numeric or alphanumeric string that is associated with a single object or entity within a given system
From that description it sounds like that anything that isn't numeric or alphanumeric is allowed. That is hower not the case as the use of eg. '-' and ':' are allowed in both system and value - so shouldn't that description either be updated or should the conformance rules be made stricter? @Grahame Grieve
Grahame Grieve (May 06 2020 at 12:07):
you've picked just about the only text that still remains from old V3 data types
Jens Villadsen (May 06 2020 at 12:08):
life's a bitch
Grahame Grieve (May 06 2020 at 12:08):
it could certainly be clearer. It doesn't just have to alpha-numerics, though that's usually what it is
Jens Villadsen (May 06 2020 at 12:08):
you'll never guess the question I just had then ;)
Jens Villadsen (May 06 2020 at 12:11):
do you need a JIRA or can you modify the parts directly
Grahame Grieve (May 06 2020 at 12:11):
JIRA. that's normative conetnt
Jens Villadsen (May 06 2020 at 12:15):

I'll expect a medal and a finders fee next time we meet :D
Grahame Grieve (May 06 2020 at 12:16):
I'll give you one consistent with the magnitude of your discovery
