Agree with the need for that new filter operation but would prefer it to be called ancestorsOf rather than generalises and might even suggest changing is-a to descendantsOf.

Mine is more of a layman's perspective but, to me, is-a doesn't necessarily suggest that I'm going to get all descendants - and I prefer the names used in SNOMED CT expression constraints...but happy to cede to the professional terminologists with a far broader knowledge of Code Systems.

@Peter Jordan descendantsOf doesn't imply subsumption, only general hierarchy. Is-a is a stronger relationship
