Topic: Internationalization of Validation Messages
Patrick Werner (Oct 29 2019 at 16:05):
I am currently implementing a validation service on top of the fhir.core validator which has to deliver german error messages. Is there any interest in adding Internationalization to the Validators messages? If yes, I18N support could be included into the core validator to enable multi-language support. @Grahame Grieve
Grahame Grieve (Oct 29 2019 at 19:04):
yes there is some interest. But it's a huge amount of work, particularly where the content is built over time - paths, etc
Brian Postlethwaite (Nov 13 2019 at 01:18):
It's on my list of something for the dotnet client too. Not for internationalisation for me, but for better local messages.
Grahame Grieve (Nov 13 2019 at 01:23):
we've now got it on our todo list with resourcing planned ;-)
Patrick Werner (Nov 17 2019 at 13:25):
i also started the first implementation steps on this topic. @Grahame Grieve to not implement it twice it would nice to cooperate on this one. Will ask you in Amsterdam.
Grahame Grieve (Nov 18 2019 at 07:54):
ok
Frank Oemig (Nov 19 2019 at 06:58):
I guess we have to separate internationalization from multi-language support. both is helpful...
Grahame Grieve (Nov 19 2019 at 08:51):
what do you think the difference is?
Frank Oemig (Nov 20 2019 at 09:43):
Multi-languange is helping in using translations. Internationalization are adaptations for different countries. We can do both or one without the other...

Nice! Any idea when it could be available? I'm working on a major FHIR adoption on Brazil, and it'd be great to provide portuguese messages.
Jose Costa Teixeira (Feb 27 2020 at 21:58):
@Pedro Lauro would be good to join the #Portugues stream. I'm happy to see something moving and will be glad to help
Grahame Grieve (Feb 28 2020 at 00:22):
sometime this week? You can see the PR we are working on here:
