to clarify the tracker GF#22694 is for R5 we could 'backport ' it as an extension.

I don't know if we can wait for R5 release, but I think we should at least try to model the extension after the expected R5 functionality. At least, I don't think you can officially "backport" before the real release, since none of the generated extension URLs will be available, etc

a standard extension for R4 is what I looking into and whether thats a possibility
