US Core DiagnosticReport Profile for Laboratory Results Reporting Profile -
After completing our source analysis to determine if we have pertinent data to build the above profile, we have come away with more questions than answers. Within our source data, there are many records associated with LOINC panel codes however, the results tend to be reported in a single row not associated with the child LOINC codes that build the panel. In this scenario, Can we build the profile with only the LOINC panel code information without having the result (see example below).
24321-2 - Basic metabolic 2000 panel - Serum or Plasma

Appreciate if any one can respond to this.

No, you need the code for each value

You want to send a 'result' and only send the panel code?

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Jan 06 2021 at 18:47):

..one option is to send results as a pdf in presentedForm element

Since result information is not available for the panel LOINC codes..and result is a must support and the panel LOINC information is a MUST have, so can we show the panel loinc code details only without having result?

Appreciate if any one can respond to this?

I am not exactly sure of your ask -- do you want to sending a blob of results with only the panel code?

we dont have any result information associated with Panel. We have only panel LOINC codes data from LAB as standalone records for patient. Can we share the panel LOINC data only without result in this profile ?

view this post on Zulip Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 08 2021 at 14:52):

What data do you have for the panel? Just a text summary of the results?

view this post on Zulip SSM (Jan 08 2021 at 15:05):

just patient details, Parent panel loinc code, Lab Collection date, and result value. that is the way panel data is coming from Lab itself

view this post on Zulip Michele Mottini (Jan 08 2021 at 15:14):

If it is a panel it will have multiple result values, wouldn't it ?

view this post on Zulip Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 08 2021 at 15:39):

Is the result value a formatted string that contains all the values?

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Jan 08 2021 at 18:43):

..if it is then use the presentedForm element to represent it...

view this post on Zulip SSM (Jan 08 2021 at 19:37):

The result value is either the actual result (unit and value) and some custom text from lab provider such as ("positive or negative) for the panel LOINC code.

view this post on Zulip Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 08 2021 at 20:13):

A panel never has a single value - it always has a bunch of values. E.g. a "blood panel" would have values for white blood cell count, red blood cell count, hemoglobin, etc.

view this post on Zulip Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 08 2021 at 20:14):

It would never make sense for a panel, as a whole, to be 'positive' or 'negative'

view this post on Zulip Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 08 2021 at 20:14):

(As a side note, positive/negative generally goes into interpretation, not value)

view this post on Zulip SSM (Jan 08 2021 at 20:34):

That is the data is coming from Lab with Panel LOINC codes. Thats why i was thinking whether to proceed with this profile or just to show in Lab observation profile?

view this post on Zulip Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 08 2021 at 20:36):

Can you give an example of a specific Observation that's coming with a panel code and has a single value? (Just share the code and the value)

view this post on Zulip SSM (Feb 15 2021 at 17:56):

Hi Team,
In LOINC Codeset there are 7 codes which overlaps with each other in Diagnostic report for lab and notes. The codes are considered panel code as well as part of pathology note. For example - 64433-6 or 81186-9. So in this scenario as for both the Diagnostic report profiles the search criteria to search through Patient and Code is same, then which profile can be retrieved?

view this post on Zulip Brett Marquard (Feb 17 2021 at 00:07):

How do you classify them in your system? I think if you have discrete results Lab probably makes more sense -- clients are going to have to be a bit flexible since I expect servers to classify this ones that overlap differently

view this post on Zulip SSM (Feb 17 2021 at 04:55):

@Brett Marquard we are going to categorize them as Panel specific LOINC code as for the DR Notes profiles we dont have enough information to build the profile. But incase if both record exist for lab and notes then is there any solution for that?

view this post on Zulip Brett Marquard (Feb 18 2021 at 00:38):

I am not sure why a system would have record for 'both' profiles -- expose all the information you can through a query for either.

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Feb 18 2021 at 03:10):

I too am confused regarding the question.
