Hi All,
Is there a Implementation Guide which consider the Gender Identity requirements from USCDI?
Any guidance on this would be much appreciated !!
Thank you,
Dheeraj

USCDI's Patient Demographic has birth sex. Is that what you mean?
Cooper Thompson (Oct 02 2020 at 15:30):
Gender Identity isn't in USCDIv1. Birth Sex is included in the US Core IG: us-core-birthsex
John Moehrke (Oct 02 2020 at 16:22):
look at the extensions defined in FHIR core http://build.fhir.org/patient-profiles.html

The gender harmony project (https://confluence.hl7.org/display/VOC/The+Gender+Harmony+Project) is preparing to go to ballot in 2021. It won't be a product family implementation guide, but it will help to define some of the concepts (https://confluence.hl7.org/display/VOC/Gender+Harmony+Context+Definitions). This group has a call later today (10/5) if you are interested in the project.

Michele Mottini (Oct 09 2020 at 16:18):
@Dheeraj Kumar Pal there is none - as Cooper said above that is not part of USCDv1 that is what the existing profiles target
Robert McClure (Oct 11 2020 at 15:20):
While Gender Identity is not in USCDIv1 and I lead the Gender Harmony project and encourage you to review that material as we head to a logical model ballot that should include some example changes we'd like to see in FHIR and elsewhere. I'd like to point out there is regulatory guidance from ONC on expectations for recording gender identity and sexual orientation. I'm not thrilled with this guidance but it does exist in the sections for Paragraphs (a)(5)(i)(D) and (E) in the test method certification guide. I'll note that many in the community working on the gender harmony ballot hope to see this improve once the work is completed.
