DSTU2 has the http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/us-core-county extension - that we use to represent the county in an address. I just noticed that there is Address.district though - and it is already available in DSTU2 and all later versions. Should we use that for the county?

The description of that field in R4 is District name (aka county), so yes, I think county should go in there if you need it.

Thanks Jason. I am just a bit puzzled by the extension - why it even exist? Or is it a hold-over from DSTU1 maybe?

We talked about removing it but apparently there are places where you can have both a district and a county. (Though adding some clarifying language to the extension that its use should be limited to that situation would be useful - feel free to submit a change request.)

Got it, thanks Lloyd

There is no need to make a CR is not in R4? we moved all the us-core extension out of the core build and got rid of this one and made religion a universal realm extension. how is an extension like this deprecated in a future version or does it live on?

If you got rid of it, you should be fine

my original point is there is no point in making a CR for a DSTU2 artifact.
