Since we were talking about this during today's call, so I just scanned this value set (https://www.hl7.org/fhir/us/core/ValueSet-us-core-careteam-provider-roles.html). Why is the "Manitoba Health" (and other Canadian health departments) in this value set? 998820271000087109 http://snomed.info/sct Manitoba Health

view this post on Zulip Jean Duteau (Oct 09 2019 at 19:19):

it also has codes for "provider billing number", "jurisdictional health number", "health regulatory body for X".
"Beggar", "bird fancier", "Parachutist". :)

Include codes from http://snomed.info/sct where concept is-a 394730007 (Healthcare related organization) is probably the reason that canadian health departments are included.
Include codes from http://snomed.info/sct where concept is-a 125676002 (Person) is why bird fancier and parachutist is included.

I suspect the value set definition needs refining. :)

I, for one, think it's important for patients to be able to identify who their preferred bird fancier is...

@Jean Duteau No, what I am wondering is that if you use US edition of SCT, you can not get those Canadian health services.

view this post on Zulip Lloyd McKenzie (Oct 09 2019 at 19:36):

It depends what context is passed to the terminology server doing the expansion

view this post on Zulip Jean Duteau (Oct 09 2019 at 19:37):

yeah, those organizations are only in the Canadian edition, so when the expansion was done, the context was SNOMED CA

view this post on Zulip Jean Duteau (Oct 09 2019 at 19:38):

so you have found a fault in the expansion process. The spec should be using either the international version of Snomed or the US version. definitely not the canadian version :)

Manitoba is in the base R4 spec expansion too for the relevant valueset: https://www.hl7.org/fhir/valueset-participant-role.html

Who is going to fix that? @Grahame Grieve?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Oct 09 2019 at 19:48):

hmm yes it would be me. it's weird

view this post on Zulip Reece Adamson (Oct 09 2019 at 19:51):

Build version (https://build.fhir.org/valueset-participant-role.html) doesn't have manitoba specifically, but it does include other Canadian specific snomed concepts:

964380531000087103 : Child Abuse Service

Unlrelated issue Brought up on Argo codes and after a little investigation we are gonna propose this get updated to align with the latest fhir build -(but will probably want to add bird fancier back in :-) ) since there was a gForge related to the core valueset.

Include codes from http://snomed.info/sct where concept is-a 223366009 (Healthcare professional)
Include codes from http://snomed.info/sct where concept is-a 224930009 (Services)

so it turns out that about a year ago I introduced a bug into tx.fhir.org and since then, all expansions have been based on the canadian version of snomed CT.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Oct 26 2019 at 12:37):

I'm going to upgrade it in the next 24 hours....

I prefer to think of it as a 'feature'... :)
