Hello, I'm wondering about the difference in numbering between US Core 3.0.1, vs 3.1.0. My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is that for the core spec, X.1 indicates an early version of (X+1), whereas X.0.1 indicates a fix to X. Is that also true for UsCore, that 3.1.0 is early-version version 4?

3.0.1 indicates a technical correction (shouldn't be breaking changes). 3.1.0 indicates breaking changes have occurred. That might be a ballot release or it might be an 'interim' release. @Eric Haas @Brett Marquard

this is a referred to as an "STU update"- and yes, it has significant changes.

so if I were to ask you "What is the current STU3 version of US Core?" would you say 3.0.1, or 3.1.0?

3.1.0

Cool. But just to make sure I understand, if I asked what is the current version of FHIR R4, would you say 4.0.1 or 4.1.0? I'm been assuming that 4.1.0 is "early draft of R5"

like how 3.5 was really R4

4.0.1

4.1.0 has not been published as an official release

You can't tell just from the numbers - you need to look at the history page and see what's an official release.
