Looking at the diagram at http://hl7.org/fhir/smart-app-launch/#ehr-launch-sequence, it's a little misleading because it starts with a 'redirect' - but it's not actually a redirect in any technical sense is it?

One could imagine a web based EHR that used window.location to navigate to a smart app as part of the app's EHR launch flow, but no, it's really a navigate, not a redirect.
