Topic: using a concept map in a profile

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (May 22 2016 at 00:58):

How would I use a concept map in a profile binding to a value set to say "here are the equivalent SNOMEDs to these LOINCs"? Would they just be referenced in the value set?

view this post on Zulip Erich Schulz (May 22 2016 at 00:59):

isn't there a specific resource for maps?

Yes that is not my question. how does it fit into a profile?

Your valuesets are linked to a profile throught the binding how are the concept maps linked - indirectly through the valueset?

ie the equivilent of providing the same narative in both English and French?

sorry I'm a complete noob at FHIR (although was big into ontology 2 decades ago)

if you wanted to include a "prefrerred" or "required" mapping, wouldn't it just be case of providing a ConceptMap as a static resource?

view this post on Zulip Erich Schulz (May 22 2016 at 01:11):

ie linked via the system uri + version + code ?

Eric - at the moment, just include it in the implementation guide

that says 'btw, here's some mappings you might find useful'. Do you want more than that? You can reference it from a structureMap...

Ok that is what I thought.
