Topic: how to know whether is Ref.reference or Ref.identifier

It looks like I declare in Capabilities.referencePolicy when searching , so I would one know whether to search via Reference.reference or Reference.identifier? For example I want to search for QuestionnaireResponses in my Answer bank by Patient X. I need to know a priori whether the QR.subject is reference based or identifier based, otherwise my search for say.... ?patient=patient/X fails?

  • Do any ref implementations support this ?

I would really like it to be clearer because I can never remember which is logical and which is literal an inline key would be useful:

such as, ".... literal reference, in other words, when using Reference.reference..." ".... logical reference, in other words, when using Reference.identifier..."

Is there still time to squeeze this text into R5?

Agree clarification would be better here - and I presume you were asking about inclusion in R4. Given that this portion is non-normative, we can still change it after going to ballot.
