Topic: g.10 vs ONC API Criterion and Info blocking
Daniel Tam (Dec 30 2021 at 19:16):
If my EHR receives certification against 170.315(g)(10), will I also be in compliance with the following?
-ONC's API certification criterion: https://www.healthit.gov/cures/sites/default/files/cures/2020-03/APICertificationCriterion.pdf
-ONC's Information Blocking rules
I believe that certifying against g10 also ensures compliance with the API criterion and Information Blocking.
But I just wanted to double check with others, in case there is additional work I would need to do.
Thanks,

Only until 10/4/22, when info blocking expands from just USCDI to all EHI

g10 certification only meets the API criterion. Info Blocking is a different thing. Info Blocking covers a bunch of stuff not handled in g10 certification, like business practices, pricing, etc. There is an attestation that you won't info block as part of certification, but to make that attestation, you need to consider a lot more than just the technical work of g10 certification.
