I'm trying to install the FHIR plugin for notepad++. However if I follow the link form http://www.healthintersections.com.au/FhirServer/fhirnpp.htm and choose Notepad++ Plugin release 1.0.18 12/01/2016 I end up on the home page instead of the download (http://www.healthintersections.com.au/FhirServer/npp-install-1.0.18.exe/ with or withouth the slash). Any tips how to install the fhirplugin notepad++?

The FHIR plugin worked great - able to generate narratives quickly that look a lot better than my hack and validate and PUT POST easily. But it spawns dozens of IE windows kind of making it a non starter for me. 1) has this been fixed and 2) I forget where I should post bugs to it is here OK?

Its pretty easy to install http://www.healthintersections.com.au/FhirServer/fhirnpp.htm

view this post on Zulip Eric Haas (Apr 07 2016 at 05:13):

just click on a version an follow the instruction. I think that Notepad needs to be closed for a successful update and I usually reinstalled Notepad before updating so really a new install.

The notepad++ plugin with windows 10 had an annoying pop-up about needing an App. making it unuseable. also when I do the xml-json the text gets Ids? added in like:
"div" : "<div B88BF977DA9543B8A5915C84A70F03F7=\"4\" xmlns=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml\"><ol B88BF977DA9543B8A5915C84A70F03F7=\"5\"><li B88BF977DA9543B8A5915C84A70F03F7=\"6\">CareTeam Member: Kurtis Giles, MD Role = Allopathic&amp;Osteopathic Physicians:Internal Medicine:Cardiovascular Disease</li><li B88BF977DA9543B8A5915C84A70F03F7=\"7\">CareTeam Member: Kathy Fielding, MD Role = Behavioral Health&amp;Social Service Providers:Psychologist</li><li B88BF977DA9543B8A5915C84A70F03F7=\"8\">CareTeam Member: Daniel A Johnson Role = Patient (person)</li></ol></div>"

i'm currently trying to get the notepad++ plugin to work with win10.
I always get Access violation errors. I already tried np++ 6.9.1, 6.9.0 and 6.9.2 with the newest version of the plugin. Has anyone managed to get this working with the current version & win10?

I need to release a new version...

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Sep 20 2016 at 18:25):

@Patrick Werner, I had the same issue on several computers at home and at work (Win 10 & Win 7). If I do fresh install of any version that is newer than 1.0.13, the plugin doesn't work (access violation). My workaround is to install npp-install-1.0.13.exe first and then to install the latest version of the plugin. Then everything works perfectly.

view this post on Zulip Patrick Werner (Sep 20 2016 at 18:25):

thanks for the hint, i'll try that

view this post on Zulip Patrick Werner (Sep 20 2016 at 19:35):

unfortunality the older npp plugins versions can't be downloaded anymore :/

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Sep 20 2016 at 19:35):

Let me see if I can attach it here. It's .exe file, so might be blocked.

npp-install-1.0.13.exe

thank you so much @Igor Sirkovich it's working now.

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Sep 20 2016 at 19:43):

You are welcome Patrick.

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Sep 20 2016 at 19:45):

@Grahame Grieve, when you relase a new version of NPP plugin, could you please look into the installation issue? All versions after 1.0.13 only work if installed on top of a previously working version, but don't want if it's a fresh install.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Sep 20 2016 at 19:46):

you have to turn on local extensions in notepad++ - is that the issue? (see the plug-in manager)

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Sep 20 2016 at 19:53):

Interesting, I didn't see this option. I will look at it when I get to a windows machine. However, version 1.0.13 works well even if this option is off and once 1.0.13 is installed, any newer verions installed on top of it works well too.

Here's a PortableApp version of NotePad++ with the FHIR Plugin installed (don't remember which version). Runs without installation on Win 10 (at least, it does for me):

I have released a new version of the plug-in. For now, the plug-in has been updated to support FHIR STU3 candidate. It's my intention to support both DSTU2 and STU3, but additonal work is needed, and I thought I should get a fixed version out (fixed for the obvious errors)

Downloaded 1.0.20 today, installed and started Notepad++ (v. 6.9.2). A pop-up with "Unknown exception" and title "Exception" was displayed.

Tried Plugin -> FHIR -> About
another error box appeared.

any information in the errors?

No specific.

Tested on Windows10. On two different machines. Both as admin and non-admin.

Tried to find a log file for Notepad++, but didn't find it. Images are uploaded to:

thanks for the update @Grahame Grieve we are currently trying to use your plugin with a local hapi DSTU2 Server. Unfortunately the DSTU2 Server Option in the Plugin settings is always disabled/greyed out. Even after adding our own DSTU2 Server to the list of Servers.

we are getting this error when we are checking the connection

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Sep 26 2016 at 23:30):

yes, I disabled that option; I have a little bit more work to do before it can be enabled

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Sep 26 2016 at 23:31):

and as you found, hooking it up to a server running DSTU2 will just confuse things more. DSTU2 support using STU3 infrastructure is a work in progress

I installed the fhirplugin a month or so ago and it worked great at first, but validation stopped working a couple weeks ago. I started getting the following error in a dialog box entitled "Fetch a resource": Error validating: error: the element CapabilityStatement is not a valid resource name. What am I doing wrong?

(I've tried uninstalling/re-installing the plug-in, deleting associated files, etc. but it still fails)

view this post on Zulip Bruce Tietjen (Nov 11 2016 at 17:36):

I also just tried creating a 'Patient' resource using Create New Resource and I received the same error: 'error: the element CapabilityStatement is not a valid resource name.' I suspect that something is wrong in trying to talk to the default configured servers.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Nov 11 2016 at 20:38):

ah yes. you're right. I'll try and get an update out sometime over this weekend

Notepad++ - v7.4.2
Plugin - v1.0.26

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Jul 21 2017 at 10:49):

I don't know, actually. I've tried to reproduce it and I can't. the original error was a programming error on my part. have you re-installed it?

Hi @Grahame Grieve When I try any operation (even About) on the Notepad++ Plugin using http://test.fhir.org/r3 for both terminology & FHIR server, I get an error "unknown code: BodyStructure from a set of choice...". I've tried this on 3 different machines and the same error appears on all of them. Notepad++: v7.4.2. Plugin: v1.0.26. I've attached a screenshot with the full error. I remember a similar/same issue - perhaps it helps debugging: I got the same thing when running the server with the wrong definitions.json.zip (if i use the r4 in an r3 installation, i get that message)

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Aug 10 2017 at 21:41):

what do you have in [npp-install]/fhir? there should be 2 zip files, what are their dates?

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Aug 10 2017 at 22:01):

I released an upgrade that should help... the about box at least should load

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Aug 10 2017 at 22:50):

There is only one zip file "fhir3-definitions.zip", its date is July 6, 2017. I've checked on 2 machines (one with a new installation and another with an update on top of an older version of the plugin) and it's the same on both.

view this post on Zulip Grahame Grieve (Aug 10 2017 at 22:51):

odd. try the upgrade

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Aug 10 2017 at 22:59):

With 1.0.27, "About" works, but when I try to validate or create a new resource, I still get a message about "BodyStructure"

what does it say in the about box for the definitions source?

view this post on Zulip Igor Sirkovich (Aug 10 2017 at 23:02):

The path seems correct: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Notepad++\plugins\fhir\fhir3-definitions.zip". The date of this file after upgrade is August 4, 2017.
