Topic: convert x12 to FHIR
Satish kongot (Jan 17 2019 at 20:10):
Do we know how to convert x12 to FHIR formats ?
Satish kongot (Jan 17 2019 at 20:11):
We have a existing claim coming in the X12 format and looking to convert to a FHIR format ? Is it worth going that route
Rick Geimer (Jan 17 2019 at 20:13):
Depends on the X12 transaction. We have done some work at FHIR connectathons representing the content of X12 277 RFI and 275 using FHIR CommunicationRequest and Communication resources (plus an extension to capture the LOINC document type code) for the HIPAA attachments use case.
Satish kongot (Jan 17 2019 at 20:24):
Any one successfully created a x12 - 837 claim to FHIR format ? is it worth going that route ?
Rick Geimer (Jan 17 2019 at 20:34):
There is a Claim resource that the Financial Management work group maintains. I would assume that they have done the cross walk to the 837, but I do not know for sure or have any more details.

We did this for couple of projects in both directions. If you have a specific questions - i can connect you with our engeneers and modelers

hello,
Can U help me how make patient Encounter HL7 Message using java
Varvara (Jan 18 2019 at 11:07):
@Satish kongot We asked financial group about 837 to FHIR Claim Resource crosswalk some time ago, but there were no official mapping at that time, and as far as I know nothing has changed since then. So you will have to create your own mapping, if you like to take this direction. We did the same work for EDI 835 messages (ClaimResponse), which are very similar to EDI 837.
