Topic: Validation against a specific profile version

The $validate operation https://www.hl7.org/fhir/operation-resource-validate.html accepts a profile parameter, which accepts a uri, rather than a canonical. Does this mean that there's no way to provide a version you want the operation to validate against? Or can you send a canonical in that profile parameter?
