Hi everyone,

This is my first post here.

I've been looking to perform an integration between an application used by sport team Therapist and hostpitals/facilities using FHIR.
The scenario I am working on the following:
-Therapist request a lab test, lets say blood test as an example, for an athlete at a Team designed facility.
-Then the athlete will go to the facility, do the test and the lab test result needs to be sent back to our application.

I was looking at the https://www.hl7.org/fhir/servicerequest.html for the first part but I'm lost about what is the next step.

Can someone guide me and explain to me the general workflow for this situation?

Thanks

Where is this? In the US hospitals that support FHIR give you a way to access lab results, but not requests them

Yes, that would be in the US.

Can they schedule an appointment for a lab test? https://www.hl7.org/fhir/appointment.html

Most labs (in the U.S.) don't have much in the way of support for FHIR. Almost all interaction is over HL7 v2.

See https://fhir.cerner.com/, https://fhir.epic.com/ for what leading EHR support

So I am better implement my integration using HL7 v2 instead of FHIR?
Or should I use both HL7 v2 and FHIR?

You better ask the hospital/facilities you want to connect to
