Topic: SaaS Integration and EMR App Stores
Todd Mueller (Dec 17 2019 at 16:31):
Hello everyone. I'm starting the process of researching how I can possibly use FHIR for my SaaS that's running on Azure.
My product is not in the EHR space, rather case management, so there is some cross over with patients/clients, etc. My goal is to get my product into EMR app stores such as Epic, Cerner, and Athena. I would like to match up clients with patients and then ultimately pass in PDF notes to the EHR record as an attachment.
That's the goal in a nutshell but from here, i'm not sure what to research first. Has anyone done this before? I am looking for articles, direction and other information on what to do next.
Hope this makes sense.

@Abigail Watson has some experience navigating these waters :)

Thanks for the fast reply! I will reach out to Abigail.

Start with the EHR API documentation: https://fhir.cerner.com/, https://open.epic.com/Home/EpicOnFHIR, join their development programs and start developing a test app against their sandboxes.

(AthenaHealth at the moment being makes this super-difficult, so I'd suggest to start with Epic and Cerner, that are mostly self-service)

Thanks Michele
