The O&O and Public Health WGs have been working together to come up with guidance on conveying sexual orientation, gender identity and related concepts in v2 messages so that this data can be collected for COVID related testing and vaccination. We are closing in on what that guidance will be but wanted to get broader input from the community on it. Please visit https://confluence.hl7.org/display/OO/Sexual+Orientation%2C+Gender+Identity%2C+Administrative+Sex%2C+Birth+Sex+etc and add any comments you have here. In particular, the content in red will form the foundation of the guidance.

Even though the initial guidance is for v2, we will be working with the Gender Harmony project to integrate these concepts into the v2, CDA and FHIR standards as well. We want to make sure we are as consistent as possible across all three product families.
