Topic: Record Locator Service (RLS)
Peter Bernhardt (Jan 25 2021 at 18:28):
I've been looking into implementation of a RLS for US-based systems. I found an implementation in the UK based on the DocumentReference resource (https://data.developer.nhs.uk/fhir/nrls-v1-draft-a/Profile.RecordLocator/nrls-documentreference-1-0.html) and Word document that is probably unrelated but came from a HL7 working group (first hit if search "record locator service hl7"). Has there been any further work done on this, or a IG published or in-progress?

Have you looked at IHE's MHD (Mobile Health Data) spec?

Has anyone here worked on the UK's NRLS? https://developer.nhs.uk/apis/nrl/pointer_fhir_resource.html
Dates back to STU3 days (2017) and appears to still be in beta.
Brendan Keeler (Jan 28 2021 at 16:22):
Side note - the IHE MHD spec still notably lacks a comparable profile to PLQ, so that's still work to be done.

re NRLS @Kevin Mayfield
Elliot Silver (Jan 28 2021 at 16:52):
@Brendan Keeler What to you mean about MHD? Why should one profile contain another? Do you mean IHE lacks a FHIR equivalent of PLQ?
Brendan Keeler (Jan 28 2021 at 16:53):
Yep
Brendan Keeler (Jan 28 2021 at 16:53):
MHD is really just a FHIR equivalent of the most popular old IHE transactions
Brendan Keeler (Jan 28 2021 at 16:54):
Xcpd/pdq, XCA query, XCA retrieve
Elliot Silver (Jan 28 2021 at 16:54):
Do you know if anyone has presented a request to #ihe to develop a PLQ equivalent?
David Pyke (Jan 28 2021 at 16:55):
@John Moehrke ?
Elliot Silver (Jan 28 2021 at 16:55):
I don't think MHD covers the same ground as PDQ -- thats why they have mPDQ. And last time I looked MHD didn't have capabilities equivalent to XCA, but I could be wrong on that.
John Moehrke (Jan 28 2021 at 17:02):
@Brendan Keeler I think you might be confusing MHD with MHDS. MHD is an API to many document sharing exchanges including (MHDS, XDS, XCA, XDR, etc). Where as MHDS is a full-stack solution for a document sharing exchange (HIE). MHDS is a profile of profiles and pulls in MHD, PDQm, PIXm, PMIR, SVCM, ATNA, mCSD, and IUA.
John Moehrke (Jan 28 2021 at 17:03):
More details on these topics are explained in the HIE-Whitepaper https://profiles.ihe.net/ITI/HIE-Whitepaper/index.html
Brendan Keeler (Jan 28 2021 at 17:06):
Ah yes thanks John
Kevin Mayfield (Jan 29 2021 at 08:47):
Do you mean a central repository knows where the patients records are? (I'm thinking of something like a central EpisodeOfCare registry).
UK NRL sort of has this purpose but tends to lean towards a DocumentReference registry.
Kevin Mayfield (Jan 29 2021 at 08:47):
and IHE XDS
