Topic: Query regarding HL7 2.X
Harman Chawla (Sep 06 2016 at 15:38):
Query regarding HL7 V2.X, Segment Terminator or Message Terminator, which one of the both cannot be modified as per the HL7 standard? As per study we can't update Message Terminator, or segment terminator, as we wouldn't define the message and segment terminator.

yes
Harman Chawla (Sep 07 2016 at 12:54):
As discussed with Aditya, we cannot modify the segment terminator, as their is no message terminator, as the messages were separated out on the basis of MSH|^~\& in batch file
Harman Chawla (Sep 07 2016 at 12:55):
According to him, there is no delimiter as message terminator. there is no delimiter which is used to notify that message is completed. Segment terminator is nothing but \r, that is, ASCII 13 character, simply Enter or carriage return. A parser understand that a new message started by reading MSH followed by delimiters - MSH|^~\&|....
