docs say: "Display items allow the inclusion of instructions, background information and similar content within a questionnaire." assume instructions for test takers...

There's another extension that lets you control whether an item is to be included on entry, on rendering the results or both: http://hl7.org/fhir/extension-questionnaire-usagemode.html
