Topic: Patient Compartment Sequence and Contract resources
Michael Calderero (May 11 2018 at 20:57):
I'm looking at the patient compartment (i.e. http://build.fhir.org/compartmentdefinition-patient.html) and I see that Sequence and Contract are resources that are never in the patient compartment.
While we don't store Contract resources for now in our system, we will most likely store genetic data as Sequence resources. When we do a Patient.$everything operation, we consult the patient compartment to find out which resources are considered as part of patient's data. The Sequence resource not being part of the patient compartment seems like an omission to me...or does this fall under FHIR's 80/20 rule?
Lloyd McKenzie (May 11 2018 at 20:59):
As defined right now, it should be in the Patient compartment. However, the CG work group is exploring the notion of making Sequence "definitional" rather than patient-specific. If that happens, it wouldn't be part of the compartment anymore. For now, I'd recommend submitting a change request. That way, once we figure out what we're doing with it, we can make sure it's in if appropriate.

Ok thanks I'll do that. But for now at least in our system, we'll consider the Sequence resource as part of the patient compartment.

Added GF#16553.
I did see GF#16252 and GF#16501 talking about making the Sequence 'definitional' or not. I just added the links here for reference.
