Anyone have any comment on the last comment here? http://www.healthintersections.com.au/?p=2487
Pascal Pfiffner (Sep 28 2016 at 08:52):
Last time I checked I also couldn't find anything more narrowly defined than "Sensor device" (408746007) or "Tracking System" (706744007).
Eric Haas (Sep 28 2016 at 16:52):
That valueset binding is example. Maybe there are other code systems that cover this space better? .... or... we can submit to IHTSDO (months) or create our own ( immediately ).
Grahame Grieve (Sep 29 2016 at 02:53):
LOINC? or Snomed?
Eric Haas (Sep 29 2016 at 14:39):
SNOMED
Grahame Grieve (Sep 29 2016 at 15:56):
why SCT? isn't that not our normal policy?
Eric Haas (Sep 29 2016 at 17:40):
I am unfamiliar with the policy - where is it? We have an example binding for devices type because every code system that have been proposed has its proponents and opponents and own set of problems. ( pay to play , not comprehensive)
Grahame Grieve (Sep 29 2016 at 17:48):
Observation.coding preferred binding to all LOINC codes.

I've always thought that a lab test catalog has nothing to do with a data element repository, And I don't think it should be a generic activity definition either. And more generally, it's only from a particular perspective - decision support / generic clinical workflow mgmt engines - that it makes sense to have a generic activity definition. So perhaps we will have a series of specific things like lab test catalog, and a generic wrapper for all of them with mappings for the overlapping subset
Eric Haas (Sep 29 2016 at 17:56):
What are we are talking about here? here is the last comment you referred to at the start of this stream...
"Anybody determine a good value for Device.Type for a fitness tracking device?
I can’t seem to find a good SNOMED code under 49062001.
ref: http://hl7.org/fhir/2016Sep/valueset-device-kind.html
"
I thought we are talking about Device.type
Eric Haas (Sep 29 2016 at 18:03):
I agree with you on the lab catalog but felt obligated at least attemp to map to Dataelement or Actdefinition since others felt that they were the appropriate home for catalog entries.
Grahame Grieve (Sep 29 2016 at 18:07):
oh yes. oops. sorry
