In FHIR R3, resourceMessageHeader.event.coding has a code valueset from http://hl7.org/fhir/STU3/codesystem-message-events.html but has now been removed for R4. What should we use for R4 now? Please advise, thanks.

Make up your own codes in your own code system. At present, there has been no interest in trying to standardize messaging codes (or messages) at the international level. Where FHIR messaging is used, it's presently driven by local projects in closed communities.
