The MedicationRequest resource states in its scope: https://www.hl7.org/fhir/medicationrequest.html

In addition, the MedicationRequest may be used to report orders/request from external systems that have been reported for informational purposes and are not authoritative and are not expected to be acted upon (e.g. dispensed or administered).

How do we indicate this in .intent? I would perhaps say 'instance-order', but from the definition I'm not quite sure.

"authoritative" isn't conveyed with '.intent'. It's conveyed by the presence or absence of a tag. (We do this so that we don't break signatures.) See https://terminology.hl7.org/CodeSystem-common-tags.html#common-tags-actionable

Lloyd offers one means, but that is not what the Pharmacy WG suggests nor what US-Core indicates. All MedRequests that are reported for informational purposes should have the reported[x] element set (either the boolean or a reference to who reported it). That is the main manner to indicate that something is not the primary authoritative record. You can also set intent to 'plan' to indicate that it is not an official order.

Thanks for your replies, I will look into the tags (and to the WG and US-Core for inspiration)
Indeed, reported[x] would be another means (we've spotted that in the meantime), but I do not agree that changing intent to 'plan' when sending a request has the same meaning as sending an 'order' for informational purposes.

how can I get smart health QR code digital proof of booster?

view this post on Zulip Jean Duteau (Mar 12 2022 at 17:29):

probably not by asking on this thread. You should probably start your own thread to ask the question.
