Topic: Location of a specimen

We need to document the current location of a specimen, but the Specimen resource only allows for information about the properties of a specimen's container, not it's location.
Is there a best practice of how to do that, or might a change to add a reference to Location be useful?

Right now an extension but this sounds like a tracker. I imagine its like on Device: http://build.fhir.org/device-definitions.html#Device.location

Right, basically the same kind of use case as in Device

So the proposal would be:
Add Specimen.container.location as reference(Location) ?
Or better just Specimen.location ?

the first one
