Topic: Identifier registry
Elliott Lavy (Apr 20 2016 at 15:30):
https://www.hl7.org/fhir/identifier-registry.html only lists identifiers associated with the United States. Does anyone know of a listing that includes Canadian identifiers? In particular, I'm looking for two from Quebec:
Numero Assurance Maladie
Numero Identification Unique
James Agnew (Apr 20 2016 at 15:36):
I would assume that OIDs must exist for those types. If nobody here knows, it might be worth asking on the infoway forums
Igor Sirkovich (Apr 20 2016 at 16:17):
@Elliott Lavy, you can search for Quebec related OIDs at http://www.hl7.org/oid/ - just enter "Quebec" in the Description box and click "Find OID". And you are welcome to jump in our "URI vs OID" discussion at https://ic.infoway-inforoute.ca/en/forum/221-health-level-seven-international-hl7/878-fhir-uri-for-health-canada-drug-identification-number
Igor Sirkovich (Apr 20 2016 at 16:23):
We had also discussed this in "canada" stream
Elliott Lavy (Apr 20 2016 at 16:51):
Thanks, @Igor Sirkovich , but none of the OIDs I saw match the identifiers I'm looking for. They all seem to be related to the providers of care.
Igor Sirkovich (Apr 20 2016 at 17:05):
The search returns two pages, on the second page I see Quebec, Canada Personal Health Number OID: 2.16.840.1.113883.4.56; short name: ca-qcPHN; description: A unique number assigned by the province of Quebec, Canada to patients or clients who come into contact with their jurisdictional healthcare system.
Elliott Lavy (Apr 20 2016 at 17:26):
Indeed. That gets me the OID for NAM, but I still need a value for the NIU.
Grahame Grieve (Apr 20 2016 at 21:29):
we are happy to add identifiers for other countries to https://www.hl7.org/fhir/identifier-registry.html if they ask.
Grahame Grieve (Apr 20 2016 at 21:29):
I
Grahame Grieve (Apr 20 2016 at 21:29):
I'm not sure that's the best solution for other countries, but that's not our call.
Jens Villadsen (Nov 01 2021 at 10:25):
The Identifier registry on https://www.hl7.org/fhir/identifier-registry.html is a bit US centric. How would a jira ticket be recieved if, say, I would like to have the GLN registry added (being identified by the OID 1.3.88)?
Jens Villadsen (Nov 01 2021 at 10:31):
Anyways - you got it now on https://jira.hl7.org/browse/FHIR-34209
Lloyd McKenzie (Nov 01 2021 at 14:22):
Identifying it by OID wouldn't be received super-well. We strongly prefer meaningful - and ideally resolvable - URIs for identifier and code systems. Is the OID already widely used for the identifier system?
Jens Villadsen (Nov 01 2021 at 14:56):
@Lloyd McKenzie - You would rather prefer http://gs1.org over urn:oid:1.3.88?
Jens Villadsen (Nov 01 2021 at 15:00):
I have no preference between those two. Maybe it should even be https://www.gs1.org/standards/id-keys/gln instead or something like https://www.gs1.org/gln (I don't think that last one is stable however)
Lloyd McKenzie (Nov 01 2021 at 16:06):
Would absolutely prefer something routed in gs1.org. The HL7 Terminology Authority could work with the GS1 folks to figure out the appropriate permalink.
Jens Villadsen (Nov 01 2021 at 19:53):
mkay ... I'll go with https://www.gs1.org/gln - or should it be http://www.gs1.org/gln ? @Lloyd McKenzie Is the (s) of importance here ?
Lloyd McKenzie (Nov 01 2021 at 21:42):
The official process is to submit a request to HTA - https://jira.hl7.org/projects/HTA/issues/HTA-62?filter=allopenissues. (You can use that one as an example.) Key questions to be answered are: is this a distinct namespace; and is there already a URI in use blessed by HL7 or others?
Jens Villadsen (Nov 01 2021 at 23:30):
https://www.gs1.org/gtin is already 'blessed' on https://www.hl7.org/fhir/identifier-registry.html
Jens Villadsen (Nov 02 2021 at 09:59):
@Lloyd McKenzie I've added a jira link between https://jira.hl7.org/browse/FHIR-34209 and https://jira.hl7.org/browse/HTA-40
Jose Costa Teixeira (Nov 03 2021 at 23:55):
while Jira is down, I can't see the details.
Can we add in sscc?
SSCC : OID 2.51.1.2; UDI : https://www.gs1.org/sscc
Carol Macumber (Nov 30 2021 at 22:39):
GLN page was drafted back in June, please review. I've added it to the HTA agenda this week for approval.
@Lloyd McKenzie open the JIRA ticket and we'll try to get SSCC done before the HTA meeting this week so it can also be approved.
Jens Villadsen (Dec 01 2021 at 11:29):
The GLN page states 'GS1 US'. Why does it state the 'US' part?
