Topic: IDs in a prescription
Pranitha Sruthi (Nov 23 2017 at 12:11):
Hi all, what are the list of ids present in a generic US prescription? Thank you
Alexander Henket (Nov 23 2017 at 12:18):
If it is really IDs the answer would be "as many as there are systems producing prescriptions". If the question is about coding the answer is probably RxNorm
Pranitha Sruthi (Nov 23 2017 at 12:20):
Similar to erx-id and script number, are there any other ids?
Alexander Henket (Nov 23 2017 at 12:39):
Any resource has .id and .identifier. The first being a technical id, the second being being a business identifier. I do not know of other ids. I don't know what an erx-id or a script number is, so cannot confirm or deny

A MedicationRequest will have an identifier, you could call that a prescription id. A MedicationRequest will point to identified Medication and/or Substance resources. Also there might be a connection to an identified Organization

What are the different business identifiers used in a US prescription?
