Hi there, is there any plan to register the IANA Types application/fhir+xml and application/fhir+json at the IANA? I cannot find the types at https://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/media-types.xml
Grahame Grieve (Oct 25 2017 at 12:59):
it's pretty hard for us to register them. We're trying to summon the energy to go through the process
Elliot Silver (Oct 25 2017 at 22:38):
@Grahame Grieve You may want to contact @David Clunie who handled the registration for DICOM.
John Moehrke (Oct 27 2017 at 14:51):
They just changed the process this week to make it easier... see new form at https://www.iana.org/form/media-types
Grahame Grieve (Oct 27 2017 at 20:47):
@John Moehrke looking at that form - what would we say for "encoding considerations"? (that question is weird, hasn't unicode been invented now?)
John Moehrke (Oct 30 2017 at 13:08):
Yes there are standards for encoding... but mime-types are the most gross identifier of encoding, and thus need to be able to work with ANY type of encoding. It is true that with FHIR, we have a nice friendly encoding...
