Topic: How to distinguish different subtypes

I have a situation where claims have multiple sub-types. These are orthogonal concepts. They are different ways of categorizing the type of claim. If I have a claim with three subtype elements, how do I distinguish or know which subtype element is associated with each dimension of sub-classification?

@Lisa Nelson It depends on what you mean by subtypes in jurisdictions which use subtypes. Each claim is singular to a subtype.
Can you provide a sketch of an example so that I can be sure we are talking about the same thing?
