Hi guys,
I have a question about the HL7 vital signs profile "headCircum". The code.coding slice has a fixed LOINC code 8287-5 which means “Head Occipital-frontal circumference by Tape measure.”
This LOINC code states that the observation is done by a Tape measure. Which excludes measurements by other methods like ultrasound in an obstetric setting e.g.
A more general LOINC code is available, namely 9843-4 - Head Occipital-frontal circumference. Is this code not a better fit? The Observation.method could hold the information on the method used for the observation.
