Stream: implementers
Topic: GF#12773
Grahame Grieve (Dec 08 2017 at 05:07):
GF#12773 proposes that datatypes should be accessible direclty from the navbar. Well, I don't agree. There's a link from the front page, and it's just otherwise not significant enough. But interested in discussion....
Eric Haas (Dec 08 2017 at 05:11):
I use this link all the times - but my use case is as a profiler and standards developer so that may put me in the minority.
Grahame Grieve (Dec 08 2017 at 05:12):
that's one vote each way ;-)
Bryn Rhodes (Dec 08 2017 at 05:13):
I use that link all the time as well, but no more often than I use the Search and REST API links. I tend to agree, they're on the home page, not that big a deal that they're not on the nav bar, to me anyway.
Bryn Rhodes (Dec 08 2017 at 05:14):
I could see a "reference" menu being useful with Resources, Data Types, Search, REST, that sort of stuff.
Bryn Rhodes (Dec 08 2017 at 05:15):
But the navbar itself is precious real estate.
Yunwei Wang (Dec 08 2017 at 14:58):
The data-type link is on the Welcome page under foundation. I don't see any need to add to navy bar.
Yunwei Wang (Dec 08 2017 at 14:58):
Maybe add a link at the bottom of Resource page?
Brian Postlethwaite (Dec 08 2017 at 23:45):
I don't have a need for it. Usually when I need it, i'm looking at a resource and click through the property direct to the correct bookmark.
Lloyd McKenzie (Dec 09 2017 at 00:26):
I'm at the point where I tend to just type the URL for the data types (and sometimes the anchor for the type I want to jump to). I don't see the data types as being more relevant than many of the other key pages - and they're well linked from the resources which is the context most implementers will need to reach them from.
