Topic: Family History Allergy
John Moehrke (Jan 18 2022 at 19:08):
How might one record that you have family health history with family members with allergies? This does not seem like a condition. Right? Is this a different vector that we might want to add to FamilyMemberHistory;
or is family member allergy not clinically useful? (I could imagine allergies being more environmental than genetic?)

Jens Villadsen (Jan 18 2022 at 19:10):
So it can be genetic
John Moehrke (Jan 18 2022 at 19:10):
which seems to set the stage for FamilyMemberHistory needing an allergy vector?
Jens Villadsen (Jan 18 2022 at 20:00):
I don't the answer to that question
Richard Townley-O'Neill (Jan 18 2022 at 23:52):
I think that in FamilyHistory.condition includes allergies and intolerances, but the resource does not say anything about them.
John Moehrke (Jan 18 2022 at 23:54):
I was originally thinking that could be. it would be easy enough to explain it that way, and then have a valueset that includes some conditions and some allergies. Mostly I am wondering if there is precedent, or if there is a need for a CR.
Lloyd McKenzie (Jan 19 2022 at 05:39):
Allergy is a type of Condition, so representing it with FamilyMemberHistory.condition would be completely appropriate. (AllergyIntolerance is a distinct resource from Condition because they are typically tracked differently - just as Condition is separated out from Observation.
