Topic: FHIR IG best practices
René Spronk (Feb 01 2021 at 12:31):
Is there a best-practices/recommend content description of FHIR IGs ? I'm able to find a HL7v3 version at https://wiki.hl7.org/Implementation_Guide , and a CDA version at https://confluence.hl7.org/display/SD/CDA+Implementation+Guide+%28IG%29+Quality+Criteria - but nothing on FHIR IGs ...
David Pyke (Feb 01 2021 at 13:42):
Not yet, it's still a young industry
Lee Surprenant (Feb 01 2021 at 13:58):
is that what this is supposed to be? https://build.fhir.org/ig/FHIR/ig-guidance/branches/master/index.html
is that being kept current? (no updates since august so I assume not)
David Pyke (Feb 01 2021 at 14:04):
This page: https://build.fhir.org/ig/FHIR/ig-guidance/branches/master/best-practice.html has light guidance but it's not comprehensive
René Spronk (Feb 01 2021 at 14:44):
Hmm - I like it, certainly a worthy checklist.
Jose Costa Teixeira (Feb 01 2021 at 15:45):
The guidance IG is more about "how certain features can be implemented in an IG". We need to get back to udate this..
Jose Costa Teixeira (Feb 01 2021 at 15:46):
the "best practice" part is, welll, some things not to forget when you make your own IG
Jose Costa Teixeira (Feb 01 2021 at 15:48):
and I guess a lot of it will depend on the organization. For example in Belgium we have a target model as guidance for artifacts, http://build.fhir.org/ig/hl7-be/hl7-be-wow/metamodel.html
Jose Costa Teixeira (Feb 01 2021 at 15:49):
and we need to find some standard content bits - e.g. what goes in the Functional parts vs Technical parts...
Lloyd McKenzie (Feb 01 2021 at 16:27):
The intention is that the guidance IG will be updated and will evolve and perhaps eventually get balloted as informative. Pull requests welcome.
