Topic: Example of Observation with contained Provenance
John Moehrke (Jun 19 2019 at 20:17):
Is there an example available that shows an Observation with .contained Provenance? This would be most interesting if it has multiple Provenance (create, update, update) within the Observation. ANY resource would be fine, picking on Observation as one that is most popular.
Michele Mottini (Jun 19 2019 at 20:24):
Aren't the references going the wrong way to do that (from Provenance to Observation and not vice-versa)?
Lloyd McKenzie (Jun 19 2019 at 21:32):
You can have a contained resource that references the container.

that is what I expected... but would love to see an example

There is one somewhere - it blew up the validator once :)

Mhhh,..the spec seems to agree with my initial comment: 'A contained resource SHALL only be included in a resource if something in that resource (potentially another contained resource) has a reference to it.' - http://hl7.org/fhir/references.html#contained
Lloyd McKenzie (Jun 19 2019 at 22:56):
dom-3 (http://hl7.org/fhir/domainresource.html#invs) was specifically updated in R4 to allow the contained to reference the container, so that SHALL is in error. Can you submit a change request?
John Moehrke (Jun 20 2019 at 14:45):
I see a narrative example of Provenance in containment on the page on contained http://build.fhir.org/references.html#contained
But this is just a fragment, which is very useful, but not as useful as a complete example.
