Just confirming there is no direct map for "Estimated Discharge Date" in the FHIR Encounter Resource.

So far it seems there is nothing explicit in FHIR since it is a future projection that often changes multiple times during the encounter.

This is the closest response I found that echoes the above is:

In my mappings, I've been putting estimated discharge date at Encounter.period.end. If the date is in the future, then guidance is that it might change.

More specifically, if that date is more recent than the lastUpdated. Though that's still an issue if you receive a copy of the encounter from somewhere else.

Jean, that's what I would have done also.
We don't have any specific guidance on that at present.

For encounters that are "in-progress", is it appropriate to put the estimated discharge date (if available) in Encounter.period.end or does this need to be empty until the actual encounter is over?
