Hello! I was directed to this forum and am hoping someone can answer my question. Does anyone know if data from Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) can be sent over/with HL7?

Thanks!

Hi Sarah,
Please confirm the use case.
Payer has approved some type of home health care aide/worker to visit a member 4x a week, 3 hours.
The EVV should/may contain things like - WHO was there (mary smith from xyz home health aids), WHAT she did (general house work, laundry assisted with bathing), time mary smith arrived and the time mary smith left.
MN requirements are:
) "Electronic service delivery documentation" means the electronic documentation of the:
(1) type of service performed;
(2) individual receiving the service;
(3) date of the service;
(4) location of the service delivery;
(5) individual providing the service; and
(6) time the service begins and ends.
...
The transaction would go between who?
-The Home Health Aide/Home Health Agency Or
- The Home Health Agency / Payer
- others?

Is this correct?
Thx.
Mary Kay

@MaryKay McDaniel Yes! The data would actually be transferred from an EMR to the payer (Medicaid). If the EMR was able to collect this data (the EVV data you outlined above) directly from their software, could that data be transmitted over HL7 to Medicaid?

Thanks!

I believe the answer to that would be yes and with the move to MITA, APIs, and FHIR currently taking place in the Medicaid world, I'd suggest using FHIR.
...Have you checked with the MITA TAC, I think there may even be a Proof of Concept of something along these lines for the MESC in August.
