Does EPIC's FHIR API implements writing data back via FHIR?

No. Or at least: not the open API, not sure about AppOrchard

So, the only way to write data back to EPIC is via HL7 / epic bridge? or is there any other way to write eg encounter notes?

Sorry, don't know

Hi Joel, Epic supports update and create for a handful of STU3 resources. Access, documentation, sandboxes, etc., to these resources is currently available through App orchard (as Michelle says).

@Joel Solymosi this is pretty consistent across EHR vendors (write access being granted within an app program or after a paywall).
